How to Set Up Your Reiki Teaching Business Professionally
A Practical Guide for Newly Qualified Reiki Master Teachers
So you've achieved your Reiki Master Teacher qualification. Congratulations — that is a significant milestone, and one that represents years of practice, learning and personal development.
Now comes the next step that many newly qualified teachers find unexpectedly daunting: actually setting up to teach.
What do you need?
Where do you start?
How do you present yourself professionally to potential students when you've never run a course before?
This guide walks through the practical steps to setting up your Reiki teaching business properly — from your first course materials to your client documentation, professional memberships and branding.

STEP 2: GET YOUR COURSE MATERIALS STRUCTURED AND READY
This is where many new teachers stall. They know their Reiki. They're confident in their practice. But sitting down to write a 50-page teaching manual from scratch — while also learning how to run a business — is overwhelming. Your course materials need to cover:
· Reiki history, principles and lineage
· Chakra system overview
· Self-healing and treatment hand positions
· The attunement process (from the student's perspective)
· The 21 or 30 day post-attunement clearing process
· Ethics, safety and scope of practice
· Student assessments and reflection prompts
· What happens next (signposting to Level 2).
At Blueray Creatives, our teaching manuals and student workbooks are already written and structured to cover all of these topics — based on the UK Reiki Federation curriculum framework. You can edit them in Canva, add your lineage and branding, and be ready to teach without spending weeks writing content from scratch.
Need a bespoke touch? We can completely customise and build your manuals for you. Send us your unique lineage, additional content, and logo, and we will arrange, format, and brand it into a flawless, professional finished manual. STEP 3: DECIDE HOW YOU'LL DELIVER YOUR COURSES
Will you teach in person, online, or a combination of both?
In-person teaching gives you that energetic, hands-on connection that many students prefer for Reiki — particularly around attunements. You'll need a suitable space, whether that's a room in your home, a hired venue, or a therapy centre. Online teaching has expanded significantly since 2020, and many teachers now deliver their theory content via Zoom or pre-recorded video, with in-person attunement sessions either arranged separately or adapted for distance.
There's no single right answer — but knowing your delivery model helps you understand exactly what materials you need, how to price your courses, and how to market them. --- Be very clear at the outset by using a training outline with all training details, prices, hours etc. After all this is a big commitment for you as a teacher and for the student who is trusting you with their mentorship on this Reiki journey.
It is a contract of exchange and should be treated as such.
STEP 4: SET YOUR PRICING
How much should you charge for a Reiki Level 1 course?
Prices vary significantly across the UK, but as a general guide: · Reiki Level 1: £100–£250 per student · Reiki Level 2: £150–£350 per student · Master Practitioner: £200–£500 per student · Master Teacher: £300–£700+ per student Pricing reflects your experience, your accreditation, your course content and your location. New teachers often underprice — and then find it difficult to raise their rates later. Price your courses in line with what you offer. If your materials are professional, structured and based on an accredited curriculum, your pricing should reflect that.
A class of just six students at £150 each for a Level 1 course generates £900. When a complete, professional business bundle costs a fraction of that single class, your investment pays for itself the very first time you teach. Don't let paperwork hold you back from that income.
STEP 5: SORT YOUR CLIENT AND STUDENT DOCUMENTATION
Every student who attends your course — and every client you see for treatments — needs proper documentation.
At minimum, this includes for your:
CLIENTS :
Consent to receive Reiki
Medical form
Client intake form
Session record sheets
Aftercare card
These documents serve a practical purpose — but they also communicate your professionalism.
Currently under UK Reiki Federation code of ethics, all consent forms should clearly stipulate, price, length of session, code of conduct. They will clearly have space for adults to sign consent and for any minor (under16) or (vulnerable adult) there will be space for parental/guardian signature for consent to treatment.
STUDENTS:
Student workbook and course/manual handbook
Completion certificate
Post-course follow-up guide and/or self healing journal
You'll also need: Student enrolment or booking form. A student who receives a beautifully designed, clearly structured pack of course materials on the day of their training immediately knows they're in good hands.
Our client forms and certificate templates are available individually or as part of our complete teaching bundles.
STEP 6: SORT YOUR BRANDING
You don't need a logo designed by a professional studio to start.
But you do need:
A consistent name or trading name for your teaching practice
A simple colour palette and font that feel aligned with your energy and style
A professional email address (not a Hotmail or Gmail)
A way for potential students to find and contact you.
Our branding kit templates include business cards, brochures, price lists and gift vouchers — all editable in Canva so you can create a cohesive, professional brand presence without any design experience.

STEP 7: START SMALL AND BUILD
You don't need everything perfect before you teach your first class.
Start with one level. Prepare your materials thoroughly. Deliver your first course with care and attention, if you feel dauted by the prospect of teaching a group of students, start small by teaching one student.
Gather feedback.
Refine.
The teachers who build successful, sustainable Reiki teaching businesses are rarely the ones who had everything perfect from day one. They're the ones who committed to ongoing improvement — in their teaching, their materials, and their professional presentation.
We're here to support that journey at every stage.
